Ecological Geochemical Investigations of the Contents of Heavy Metals in the Snow Cover in the Saint-Petersburg Region with Application of GIS Technologies

L.M. Zarina, S.V. Lebedev, and E.M. Nesterov

Abstract—Results of ecological-cheochemical studies of the snow cover of Saint-Petersburg region of the Russian Federation are studied: evaluation of surface distribution of heavy metals in the snow cover is made; values of regional snow chemical situation for a number of elements and statistical variations of the background are revealed; and snow chemical anomalies of each element under study are shown.

Index Terms—Air pollution, snow cover, heavy metals,ecological-cheochemical studies, ecological monitoring, environment, antropogenic impact.
